Review: Facts and figures of the IFFA 2016

Over 63,000 visitors from 143 countries came to Frankfurt for the IFFA 2016. This was about five percent more than in 2013 (60,509 visitors from 144 countries). With around 66 percent international visitors, the world‘s leading trade fair achieved maximum global value. Especially many visitors came from the Russian Federation, Spain, Poland and Italy. In terms of exhibitors, the IFFA 2016 also reached record numbers – 1,027 companies (2013: 966). The companies from a total of 51 countries displayed innovations for the entire meat processing chain. Over an exhibition area of 110,000 m2, they presented new products and technologies for slaughtering and cutting, processing, packaging and sales.

Exhibitors and visitors rated the fair and their participation exceptionally positively, according to a survey conducted by the Messe Frankfurt. 97 percent of the visitors indicated they had achieved their goals. At the same time, 91 percent estimated the sector economy as positive.

The largest groups of visitors came from the food retail trade, the meat processing industry and butchers themselves. On the side of the exhibitors, 87 percent were satisfied with their achievements and 81 percent reached their target groups. Almost 60 percent of the exhibitors were satisfied with the number of visitors from Germany; at the same time, the satisfaction with the quality of the visitors rose three points to 77 percent. 89 percent of the exhibiting companies assess the current situation in their sectors positively.
