
Friedr. Dick (Deizisau, Germany) will be presenting a complete system of hardware, software and tools for seamless and fully automated tracking of tools used and documentation of quality guidelines.
A new feature is the unmanned tool dispensing system for safe and efficient supply of goods and tool management using an RFID tool dispensing cabinet. The tools can also be removed in seconds thanks to automatically opening doors. Operation is simple and intuitive, and the goods are dispensed after the employee is authorised using a PIN or RFID card. With the tool dispensing cabinet there are no longer shortages of tools because even if an employee incorrectly removes a tool, the removed part is posted by the RFID transponder in the tool and allocated to the employee.
The tool dispensing cabinet has a customised division of the compartments with various cabinet configurations available with up to 16 compartments. The RFID system is divided into three modules:
Tool management: An RFID transponder integrated into the tools ensures seamless monitoring and faultless allocation to persons, groups and departments. An RFID reader easily scans several tools at the same time in a matter of seconds. The “Knifeinspector” software records the dispensing and allocation of the tools to persons. A single click generates a stock summary of the tools in circulation.
Quality management: The “Knifeinspector” software generates various statistics and guarantees process optimisation and transparency in operations. Using a mobile handheld device as another option, users can determine on site in just a few seconds whether only approved tools are in use. Blocking tools and documenting the quality is possible at all times.
Tool tracking: Test stations defined by the user, which are equipped with RFID readers, can be used in a modular fashion. The user can see at a glance which tools have been dispensed to each employee or department or which tools either remain in defined areas in the workplace, have been mixed up or removed at the end of work.
