Since the beginning of 2016, selected turkey and beef salamis from Hellmann (Bünde, Germany) have been halal certified. “We are very satisfied with the steady high demand and offer pre-packaged and sliced goods in 500 g trays and 100 g fanned packages,” said Managing Director Jan-Frederik Hellmann.
For many years, the family business has been processing turkey drumstick meat from a certified supplier and manufacturing various items from turkey drumstick meat with vegetable oils and beef fat. Hellmann has also been IFS certified since 2007. The halal certificate is valid for one year. “We manufacture our products exclusively using natural processes with our own starter cultures and spice mixes. For over 15 years we have produced lactose-free and gluten-free sausages and most of our products are free of allergens,” said Hellmann, who is very pleased about the halal certification.
Halal Certification Germany in Osnabrück guarantees Muslim customers who live by the rules of Islam and consume halal food that the certified salami products from Hellmann have been produced in accordance with strict requirements and halal rules. The halal certificate considers the entire processing of the salami from cleaning, delivery, processing and packaging. For example, processing pork is forbidden and only alcohol-free disinfectants may be used for cleaning.
According to the HCG guidelines, the word “halal” comes from Arabic and is translated as “permissible, proper and safe”. Foods that comply with the laws of Islam are described by the term “halal” or “halal food”. The Arabic term “haram” is the opposite of halal and means forbidden. Food that does not satisfy Islamic regulations is described as “haram”.
