Innovations for packaging

The demands on packaging machines and materials used for meats and other foods are constantly increasing. Above all, solutions must meat market requirements. But the desire for environmentally and climate-friendly solutions is likewise increasing. The latter are demanded by legislators, commerce, and last but not least, consumers.

The Corona-related postponement of the interpack until next year (February 25, 2021 – March 3, 2021) has created an information backlog. Business and investments have more or less come to a standstill. Many manufacturers develop their new products and technical innovations specifically for this leading international trade fair for the packaging industry and schedule market launches for the date. From an economic point of view, it would hardly be justifiable to put these market-ready innovations on ice until they can be presented at one of the next international trade fairs. Instead, investments in research and development must be refinanced on the market as quickly as possible.

In the following article, Die Fleischerei presents some product innovations from and for the packaging industry that help optimize processes and thereby meet the current and future challenges of the market. Modular solutions for packaging lines form the core of these innovations. They can be integrated in upstream processing stages, in gram-true product portioning sequences of products with different consistencies, and into the actual packaging process and subsequent quality controls. The overall goal is packaging perishable goods so they are protected against external influences and have the longest possible shelf life – in a sustainable, economical manner.
