Building on the record sales of the previous year
Bizerba (Balingen, Germany) generated global sales of 675 million Euro in the 2018 business year. The supplier of weighing, cutting and recording technology thus continues its record returns from 2017. The strong growth in the previous business year can be attributed primarily to sales to other European countries. No less than 45 percent of the total sales were generated in these countries. All foreign countries accounted for about 68 percent.
In Germany sales of 216 million Euro hovered about the high level of the previous year. The business activities with the strongest growth included the Industry Solutions and Business and Financial Services sectors. These three sectors each generated an average sales growth of about 4 million Euro. The number of employees in the family-run company rose to 4,146 staff.
“The strong result again recorded for the 2018 business year confirms our innovation-based growth strategy,” said Andreas Kraut, CEO and Managing Partner. “We will continue to expand our product portfolio in the future. New developments such as the world’s first affordable ‘Loss Prevention System’ for retail businesses or SmartShelf, an intelligent shelf developed in cooperation with Microsoft, lay the foundations for continued growth in the AI market.”
Drivers of the success include the core sectors weighing, cutting and recording technology. The Digital Services and Sensors segments as well as the company’s various financing services also made an important contribution to the successful result.
Bizerba is also strengthening its Balingen and Meßkirch sites with investments to the value of 15 million Euro over the next three years. The centrepiece of these investments is a new logistics centre for spare parts at the Balingen site where the headquarters and service department are located.
