Assembly facility to be expanded
With a ground-breaking ceremony on Friday, 12 April 2019, the management and shareholders of the family-owned company Weber Maschinenbau (Breidenbach, Germany) symbolically launched their most recent construction project. An addition to the existing assembly facility will be built, along with a two-storey office building.
The official opening ceremony for the construction site was attended by politicians, construction company representatives and members of the press. However, this is not Weber’s only construction site: currently, work is under way on the completion of a new office building in Breidenbach, and Weber is also investing in building expansions at three other German locations.
Weber will invest a seven-figure sum for the construction of the new buildings, which include approx. 2,300 m² of additional assembly area and a two-storey office building with 450 m² per floor. All functions related to the new-machine process will be located here. The expansion was essential owing to the addition of packaging machines to the company’s product portfolio in 2017. “Our portfolio now covers the entire production process, from cold-cut slicing to packaging. We simply need more room in order to have enough space for such complete lines of more than 20 metres in length and in order to expand our overall capacity. After construction is completed here, we will be able to include the manufacture and commissioning of packaging machines in our assembly lines, thereby creating shorter distances for our staff,” explained Tobias Weber, CEO and associate of Weber Maschinenbau. In addition, a shipping hall is being expanded, and the existing staff building will be enlarged.
The new assembly facility will be finished in September of this year, while completion of the office building is projected for January of 2020.
