Roundtable: Specialization as a concept of success
The Belgian meat industry is traditionally structured into small units. Family-owned and operated companies are more like the norm, while corporations are the exception. Animal breeders, feeders, slaughterers and those involved in carcass cut-up used to serve as specialists whose strongpoints are fast reaction to customers’ specific desires. As part of a Brussels roundtable conversation with journalists in this specific field, six meat exporters pointed out where they see the strongpoints and perspectives of their companies.

For more than 100 years, the German company Schulte + Sohn Fleischwaren KG has been producing top-quality meat and sausage products. Today, the company generates a yearly turnover of ca. 30 million euros and is expanding constantly. It currently has over 120 employees.
